However, none of them have been as hot as the Blue Jays No. 3 prospect (according to MLB Pipeline) in Arjun Nimmala. Playing for the Blue Jays’ High-A affiliate Vancouver Canadians to start his 2026 season, Nimmala is practically outhitting almost everyone in the Northwest League.

The Blue Jays 2023 first-round pick has gone 13-for-33 (.394) with two home runs and five doubles in his last 8 games.
Nimmala ranks top five among Northwest League players in home runs, doubles, and RBI.
Prior to Monday, the 20-year-old shortstop has gone 13-for-33 for a .394 average while recording two home runs and five doubles in his previous eight games. Overall, Nimmala found himself ranked among the top five in the league in doubles (8), home runs (3), and RBIs (17) in just 18 total games played.

Blue Jays prospect Arjun Nimmala is raking with the Blue Jays’ High-A affiliate Vancouver Canadians
The Blue Jays and their fans likely saw that coming, given he was coming off a strong 2025 minor league campaign with the Canadians in which he amassed 70 runs scored, 29 doubles, 13 home runs, 61 RBIs and 17 stolen bases in 120 games of action. Nimmala would capture NWL Player of the Week honours last May in the process.
The young shortstop also gave Blue Jays fans a glimpse of his potential when he joined big league training camp with Toronto this past spring. Nimmala showed off his tools, recording seven hits in 28 at-bats, along with three runs scored, two doubles, three RBIs and two stolen bases in 16 games played.
With the promising JoJo Parker entering the conversation as the Blue Jays’ top positional prospect in the organization after being selected by Toronto in the first round of the 2025 MLB Draft, it has no doubt put the pressure on Nimmala to further show growth and development in his game in the coming years. That is because both players play a similar position in the field, with Parker having the added flexibility to play at third base as well.
Nevertheless, the Blue Jays have had high hopes in Nimmala since taking him 20th overall from the 2023 MLB Draft. Which is why even with their flurry of trade deadline transactions last year to help bolster their major league roster for the postseason, Nimmala wasn’t included in any of the deals despite being a hot commodity.
That decision looms even larger now that Bo Bichette had left the organization, meaning that Nimmala is potentially the heir to the shortstop position for the Blue Jays in the near future. And with the way that he has been hitting nowadays, that day could ultimately come sooner rather than later.
