The Toronto Blue Jays have dealt with plenty of injuries to kick off the 2026 MLB season. With this, the Blue Jays have had to rely on unexpected players as many of their main guys continue to be sidelined.
One player the Blue Jays recently called up was prospect Yohendrick Pinango. This was in response to Blue Jays outfielder Nathan Lukes being placed on the 10-day injured list on April 25.
So far, it is fair to say that Pinango is taking full advantage of his chance on the major league roster. This is because he has been impressing in a major way since being called up to the American League East club.
Pinango has been showing plenty of promise at the plate, and the truth can be seen with his stats. He has nine hits in 18 at-bats since joining the Blue Jays, which includes one double. With this, he currently has a .500 batting average with Toronto. This is undoubtedly impressive to see from a young prospect who is just getting his major league career started.
Another impressive night at the plate for Yohendrick Pinango, who's now 8-for-17 in 7 games since joining #BlueJays.

However, what's more encouraging is that Pinango is only heating up more as he continues to gain more experience. Last Friday against the Minnesota Twins, he had three hits in four at-bats. He also had another three-hit game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday.
Pinango's hot start should make Blue Jays fans excited about his future in Toronto
With how well Pinango is kicking off his Blue Jays tenure, it is hard not to be excited about his future in Toronto. The potential for the 23-year-old outfielder to emerge as a key part of the Blue Jays' roster is there, and he is already showing that during his first chance in the majors.
Pinango has also shown a lot of promise in the minors as well. In 22 games this season with Triple-A Buffalo, he has three home runs, 13 RBI, and a .288 batting average. This is after he had 15 home runs, 70 RBI, and a .298 batting average split between Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Buffalo last season. With this, there is a lot to like about Pinango's game already.
It will now be very interesting to see how Pinango builds on his strong start with the Blue Jays from here. If he continues to have success at the plate, don't be surprised to see him stick around for a while.
